To make learning fun introduce puzzles to your child

Kids often get bored in a while. Whether they are reading a book, writing, watching television or playing. They cannot continue to do any of these for a longer period of time. As they have a shorter attention span.

Puzzles are a great option for kids to get indulged and occupied for hours. This is something they can never get tired or bored of.  Puzzles are interesting, mind-bending and packed with colorful fun. They are quite simple; all you have to do is put pieces together to make a whole. Besides puzzles being a fun part it is an important learning tool for toddlers as they provide many skills and cognitive learning benefits and opportunities. From improving upon their memory and fine motor skills to sharpening problem-solving skills or polishing shape recognition techniques, puzzles for kids do it all. Puzzles are a great tool for the overall development of your child.

A puzzle teaches kids the concept of a ‘whole’ and that each piece of the puzzle is a fraction of the bigger picture. It also helps the kids to develop some of the basic skills such as shape recognition, concentration, patience, goal setting, sense of accomplishment that comes from completing the puzzle. As we all know that puzzles don’t always come together at the first attempt and they often make us think a lot so as to reach any solution, that may even turn out to be wrong. Through this, another skill is learned and that is to accept the fact that not everything in life is achieved at the very first attempt. In order to reach your goals, it requires hard work and determination.

This toy provides a great opportunity for parents to interact with their kids. They can help their kids to find the missing pieces of the puzzle and play with them. The parents should try to give their kids challenging puzzles from time to time. This will involve much interaction from the parent’s side.  Thus puzzles not only encourage independent learning and decision making but can also be used to promote interaction.  Puzzles keep the kid’s mind active and working. It is quite helpful in memorising. This may often happen that your kid might have seen that object or colour somewhere and they remember it. Thus, they are able to put together the two or more pieces to complete it.

Ultimately, what’s the most important thing is the fun that is involved in playing puzzles.! It is observed that children enjoy learning the most when they are having fun and playing with puzzles is just one example of ‘learning made fun’ !
