"Give back, Patroklos of the seed of Zeus! Not
beneath thy spear is it fated that the city of
the valiant Trojans shall fall, nay nor beneath
Achilles, a man far better than thou."

The lliad is an ancient Greek epic that tells the story
of the final stage of the war between the city of Troy and
the Greek forces led by King Agamemnon. It begins with
Agamemnon kidnapping Chryseis, the daughter of Chryses,
a priest of Apollo, as a war prize.

Chryses pleads to Agamemnon to release his daughter. When he refuses, Apollo sends a plague that decimates the Achaean forces.
This causes a rift between Agamemnon and Achilles, one
of his most powerful warriors. Achilles refuses to fight and
withdraws from the battle. However, powerful events force
him to re-enter the battleground.

The liad by Homer is a timeless tale demonstrating the
power of love and the inherent thirst for revenge in man.
It is one of the oldest Literary masterpieces and has been
pivotal in shaping the course of many literary works.
